Duane Frankson, Esq. was admitted to the New York State Bar in 2005. During his legal career, Duane has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in Civil and Supreme courts in NYC, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties. His litigation experience includes trials in civil, criminal, family, and mental health matters. Duane also has experience with appellate work in both civil and criminal matters.
He has worked at three of the top auto insurance companies in New York State for the past 30 years and has been managing attorney teams for more than 12 years.
Duane was born in Brooklyn, NY, in 1972 to parents that migrated from the Caribbean. Duane’s father moved to New York from Jamaica and worked in communications, while Duane’s mother moved to New York from Barbados and worked in several administrative roles.
Duane graduated from Nazareth Regional High School in Brooklyn, completed a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Mary Washington University in Virginia, a Master of Arts in Economics at Brooklyn College, and a Juris Doctorate in Law at Brooklyn Law School. During his academic career, Duane served as President of the Black Student Association while in college and was a member of the Black Law Student Association and the Moot Court Honor Society at law school.
Duane is also a certified Trained Facilitator and Coach by The Leadership Challenge® and Leadership Practice Inventory® (LPI). In his role as a Certified Trained Facilitator, Duane has conducted local, national, and international workshops helping organizations develop thriving cultures featuring resilience, collaboration, growth, and innovation through leadership development.
Currently, Duane is a co-chair for the Communication and Outreach Subcommittee of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Duane is also a trustee at Berean Baptist Church in Brooklyn, NY.
In the past, Duane has served as a board member for The Sarah Woode Foundation, The Nazareth Regional High School Board of Trustees, and The Berean Community and Family Life Center.
Duane has also served as a PTA President at PS/MS 394 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and Vice-President of Community School District 17’s President’s Council.
Duane is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in Judo and has served as a referee at local Judo competitions. For many years, he coached young people in the sport.
